The Greg Pogue & John Dwyer Show / Weekdays 11AM-1PM

 

Greg Pogue has three-plus decades of extensive communications experience in print, radio, television, advertising, marketing, and public relations, now serving as president and owner of Pogue Media Inc.

 

Greg is host of The Greg Pogue & John Dwyer Show heard Monday through Friday from 11a.m-1pm on Nashville Sports Radio WNSR 560 AM, 95.9 FM 107.9FM and WNSR.com. Pogue is also the Voice of Tigers as the play-by-play announcer for Tennessee State University football and basketball and the host of their football and basketball coaches’ shows. He is also host of Nashville Jazz on AcmeRadioLive.com, named Nashville’s “Best Local Jazz Show” by the Nashville Scene.

 

Greg was executive sports editor for 10 years and senior columnist two years at The Daily News Journal. He is also a former sportswriter for the Nashville Banner for more than two decades. Other radio duties have included being studio anchor on the Nashville Predators Radio Network, Tennessee Titans pre- and post-games shows, Titans and Predators players shows, etc.

 

In the 10 years he served as executive sports editor, the DNJ sports section was judged best in the state nine times for its division by the Tennessee Sports Writers Association. Also, during this time, the DNJ sports section was named best in the country three times for its division by the National Newspaper Association. Three times, he was named Sports Columnist of the Year by the Tennessee Sports Writers Association. His print experience includes publisher of Big Orange Illustrated, the UT sports fan magazine, and a long-time sports reporter role for the Nashville Banner, where he was the initial beat writer covering the move of the Houston Oilers to Nashville to eventually become the Tennessee Titans. At the Nashville Banner, he was also Prep Editor and Vanderbilt beat writer before moving to the pro sports beat that also included lead coverage of the NHL expansion into Nashville.

 

Over the years, Greg has logged more than 1,000 hours of television programming, including being host of an Emmy awarding-winning nightly sports show on WNAB Channel 58 in Nashville. He has also served as a consultant for various businesses in the areas of marketing, advertising, communications, and public relations. Greg has owned and operated various publications and communications businesses over the years in Kentucky and Tennessee.

 

In December 2012, Greg was inducted into the Metro Nashville Coaches Association Hall of Fame for his contribution to advancing high school sports coverage throughout the state. He is also a member of the Nashville Black Coaches Association Hall of Fame and a former member of the board of directors of the Football Writers Association of America.

 

Greg and wife Robin have lived in Rutherford County for two-plus decades and have a son, Clay, a Smyrna High graduate, and a daughter, Grace, a 2015 MTSU graduate.

The longtime Nashville area broadcaster is back on the airwaves, joining the “Greg Pogue & John Dwyer Show.”  The show contains a blend of news of the day, guests and entertainment as their friendship spans nearly 30 years.

After 29 years as a TV broadcaster, Dwyer became, and still is, President & CEO of JAG Tennessee (JAGTN).  A state affiliate of Jobs for America’s Graduates (JAG), JAGTN is a non-profit organization dedicated to guiding this generation of students toward graduation and a plan after high school.  Under Dwyer’s leadership, JTG has expanded to 45 programs in 30 counties.  Since 2015, JAGTN has earned the prestigious “6-of-6” award, the highest JAG honor reflecting graduation rate and positive outcomes. 

 

Moving to Middle Tennessee in 1996, Dwyer was sports director and/or news anchor at News-2, the ABC TV affiliate in Nashville from 1996-2014.  He hosted and produced “Titans on 2 with Jeff Fisher” for 13 years.  Prior to his move to Music City, Dwyer was sports director at TV stations in Jacksonville, Florida; Ft. Myers, FL and his hometown of South Bend, Indiana.  He is a 10-time Mid-South Regional Emmy Award winner.  He was also a Heisman Trophy voter from 2001-2005. 

 

Dwyer is also co-host of “Second Cup of Joe and John,” a bi-monthly podcast available on all platforms.  He teams up with longtime radio personality Joe Elvis, strolling down Middle Tennessee memory lane with area movers and shakers.

 

John is a 1985 graduate of Butler University. He’s among only a few people who have competed in every Rock ‘n Roll Marathon Series event since its inception in 2000.

 

Dwyer served on the Make-A-Wish Middle Tennessee board from 2006-2012 and was board chairman for three years. Married to Lynley, Dwyer resides in East Nashville with his wife and dog Lola.
